Decided to try out Stren's new fluorocarbon this weekend. Now it really didn't get overly tested ( fish wise) , but casted great, was hard to break ( when I got hung on a stick) and didn't seem to fray very much at all. The one true test it had fish wise was a big ol slobbery drum. Probably pushing 10lbs or more. Was using 12lb test and it held up just fine, matter of fact it fared better then my XR50, lost a hook and bent 2 others getting it out of that stupid fishes mouth. So to this point, I like what stren has to offer fluorocarbon wise. emoThumbsup

Thanks Chris!
Jason got me using the P-Line original last year and I love it. I'll have to give this a try. What kind of cost?

P-line is pretty good, I love trilene 100% for deep cranks ( 10lb test), but that's it for trilene. Been wanting to get some invisinex ( hears it's great). The cost on the Stren was 18.99 from tacklewarehouse, I'm sure it's about the same everywhere.

I used mainly Trilene 10 for my cranks last summer too. I'm amazed at the fact that they do get down a bit deeper. Most people wont believe that though..:)

Thanks for the info Chris.

I think I'm about to go 100% flourocarbon except braid on my XR50 rod. Thanks for the info, I'll give Stren a whirl

I have flouro on all but 3 reels. 2 of them are braid and one is co polymer for top waters.

If you like the Stren, you should try Viscious Flourocarbon. It is the bomb and very economical.

Mallard, I usually agree with you but Viscious flourocarbon is junk. It rates right next to vanish in my book. I was on the flourocarbon bandwagon long before it got popular. I have tried almost every brand out there and I keep coming back to Seaguar Invisx. Don't waste your money on Stren. Its ok but not anywhere close to Invisx. I have tried every other one out there except Gamma and Triple fish. If you guys want I may be able to hook you up with 1000 yard bulk spools of Invisx for about $70-$80 a spool. That works out to a nice price for great line. PM me if you want me to get you some line. BTW, I have no affiliation with Seaguar. I just like their line.

Don't waste your time with Triple fish, it is junk. The Seaguar is good as well. I have not had the first issue with Viscious. That is odd, I have found that the only knot I can use is a well lubricated 7 twist uni-knot.
