Feeling better with my cough under some control and so I was off to do some fishing. Got to Nickajack this morning at 7am and was able to castnet some big 6" threadfins...2 throws was all I needed to fill the livewell up...I drifted the boils till 10:30 and was able to get 5 fish in all to cooperate with me. 2 were some Drums in the 17-20lb range..They were huge and I got a good 15 min workout from both of them with my 15lb test line! Those fish were caught with only one generator running...At 8amEST the other generators kicked in and so did the stripers..Was able to land 3 of them and missed another (note to self: when the line starts to scream in the opposite direction as the water flow IT IS A FISH!) That was the only fish I lost..Pictures are posted below of the 2 I brought home to eat...Fish were 7lbs, 5lbs, and 3lbs...Not the big ones we are looking for but I will take fish like that ANY day of the week! Oh ya, Met whisler11 out there today and it was nice to meet you. All fish were caught on drifting threadfins in the boils...Water temp was 51F - 53F

BTW: As I was cleaning the fish both had eggs in them...one had green eggs and the other had orange eggs? Both fish were hybrids (2 patchs on the tongue)...anyone know why this is?

Great looking fish JerDog. Thanks again for the bait. We ended up with 5 spots, 1 largmouth, and 1 hybrid. The largest spot was 4.6. The rest averaged 3lbs each. The guy in the north carolina boat that kept buzzing us finally apologized after I lost my cool with him. The last time he cut through he was only a few feet from the bow and his umbrella rigs almost got us. It was nice meeting you. We are going after the crappie tomorrow we'll keep ya'll posted.

The top fish looks like a striper, while the second looks more like a hybrid. That may be the reason for the two different color eggs.

I'm basing that on body shape primarily. Both stripe and hybrid have split tooth patches, and while the stripe's tooth patches are further apart, only the white bass has a single tooth patch on the tongue.

Both are very good fish. Congrats on the productive day.

I was thinking that too JerDog, one looks like a rockjaw and the other a Hybrid. Good looking fish, I know you have been waiting for that action to start up. Glad to see you feel better.

I am feeling better, thanks..still hacking a bit but it gets better each day! Sounds good to me that they are a hybrid and a striper, thus the different colored eggs....Woke up this morning and I AM SORE! Sore from fighting those fish yesterday..my back and arm are feeling it...For those looking for an alternative to lifting weights, I recommend taking up Striper/Drum Fishing!
