Cheez and I had a slow day today. It took us 2 hrs and 15 minutes to get a limit. The rockfish have slowed down a lot for some unknown reason. We landed 4 stripers, 2 white bass, 2 skipjacks and had 3 rockfish pull off in 3 1/2 hours of fishing. Cheez did catch his personal best rockfish, a 30", 14.1 pound beauty. He said that he could do a lot of that kind of fishing.

The water temp. is 54 degrees and water was flowing about 44,000 CFS or thereabouts. We were fishing WB tailwaters using 3/4 oz and 1 oz jigs with pearl bodies. Liveliner showed up about 1 hour after we caught our last rockfish. I am anxious to here of his report to see if the fish showed up after we left. They do that sometimes.

As always, Cheez, I really enjoyed our fellowship even if the fishing was a little slow. At least you didn't get skunked like we know who.emoBigsmile emoGeezer

<font color="#6600ff">Evidently, Cheez, you only caught one fish or that is kinda how I read the report.  I am thankful that DK let you catch a fish.  Last time I  went it was just to go to school with the master of striper fishing... Next time I will know what, where, how, when to catch my fish...thanks to his sharing of knowledge.  I know you all had a great time of fellowship and fishing..  good pictures, DK...  Did you all notice how nice I was to those two????

You are very perceptive, Fat Albert. Cheez did manage to catch one fish and lost 1. I landed in order, 16.2, 17.1, 9.1 and then Cheez landed the 14.1 fish. The 2 white bass were very nice. 2 pounders.

Good looking fish guys. Looks like a great day to be on the water. Hey, are you marking lots of bait down there. I know you don't use live bait much, but are there others who use it?

I think the reason for the slower day is that you have now sore-mouthed all the stripe!!;) I am heading up there Friday morning to check it out. I figure if I have half the success that you guys did today I will be a happy camper. Great looking fish guys!! emoThumbsup

Birds are working pretty good, picking up bait. Not as much activity as usual, but there is some bait up there. Nearly all that we saw fishing up there today were using artificial baits. I didn't see any live bait fishing today. Live bait is much better in warmer water I think. I never use live bait, but I see more people using live bait when the water temp is warmer than it is now. Most everyone uses jigs this time of year.

Wow!! Another great day for the King and his Court. You can't miss. Thanks for the great report.
Have a great Thanksgiving.

Good job drumking! Sounds like FA is getting to be a real nice guy now that you are gonna let him catch a couple...emoPoke FA ya done well by being nice to the striper king! Glad ya'll had a good day out and hope everyone remebers to be safe up around the dams when ya go!

Finally got to reply to this post, my ISP was out for the holiday and just came back up. Great striper trip with the "striper king" yesterday morning. It was a bit nippy early on and I was bundled up so much that I couldn't fish. That's when DK got ahead of me on the fish count. When I took off the eskimo suit I was able to fish a little better. He might have caught more anyway but I'll use that excuse this time. Some excuse is better than none. Right FA?emoLaugh
Much fun was had and it was my first but hopefully not the last tailwater trip. DK is as good a fishing partner as anyone could ever ask for. He will flat put you on the fish, offer you baits, and even offer you his equipment to use. If a person does not catch fish with Dickie Porter itis not his fault.
Thanks again brother, looking forward to the next time.

Cheez
