Awesome Fish - Congrats! emoThumbsup It sure is nice up there! Were you in a boat or off the bank? The 411 bridge is West of Reliance while the Appalachia Dam is East of Reliance near the NC border. I assume you did not catch that fish in the tailwaters of Appalachia Dam...but rather much further downstream if below the 411 bridge??? How deep is the water there and can a boat be launched in that area? Thanks!

Wow, what an awesome fish on fly tackle!!!!!!! I have thrown for stripers below Chickamauga dam when I figured that they were down there but never got one on. It looks like you had a good sized streamer on. Did you tie it? 10-12 wt rod I would expect? That would be a blast. Have you caught any others? If you weighed it on a certified scale you might be able to get the state record. I think tha Tennessee is keeping fly records but I'm not sure. The world record on a specified tippet may be within reach if you are interested.

David he must have been below the power house or at the Reliance bridge. This is on the Hiwassee river. There is a boat launch at the 411 hwy. You can fish a boat for a good ways down the river. If they are pulling water you can go up a little ways. Wouldn't reccomend using a good boat like yours tho. I would use a jon boat or something small.

Nice fish no matter where it came from! I would definatly look into the records tho.

Great job! Looks like I need to get up there next summer. Isn't it a blast catching big fish on light tackle? My most thrilling catch to date was a 65 lb. tarpon on 20 lb. test. It jumped 5 times, and I just about had a heart attack every time.
