If you are looking for numbers, then Nickajack would probably be your best bet. However, some very large stripers do occasionally show up below the chick. The water is so shallow and clear below the chick that the striper bite doesn't last very long, at least for me and the fish are easily spooked. Let one boat run through the fish instead of going around them, and the bite is just about over.
I really haven't seen what I call good numbers since 2004. Don't know why, except that Chickamauga and Nickajack do not get stocked by TWRA because gill netting is allowed. There are huge numbers in Watts Bar lake and that is why the fishing is so good below Loudon dam. I was told by someone in TWRA that they normally stock 600,000 stripers in WB every year. That's a lot of fish. The fish that we get in the Chick come through the locks at WB. Late October, early November is a good time to start and continue fishing until the water temp gets down to 45 degrees. Best temp for stripers is 53 to 55 degrees. When the water temp gets there, you will find the Drumking with a striper rod in his hand. emoBigsmile emoGeezer
