Have a friend who is going to be in that area this week and was looking for some striper info. Is now a good time to catch some big stripers below Nickajack dam ? If so what is a good way to catch them right now ?

Thanks

I went last night and boated 6. Most in the 8-10lb range and one around 12 and another around 15. I will post pics when I get a chance. However, the flow has dropped dramatically from the last week or so, so Im not sure how the fishing will be. Last night they pushed a lot of water up until midnight, but the projected flow numbers are much smaller from here on out. We caught all our fish between 8:30-10:30. Most of the fish seemed to be haniging out under the powerlines to give you an idea of where to be. Between the power lines and the fishing pier is where we hooked up with all of ours.

Will he be fishing from the bank or from a boat? I fish down there from my boat, and I troll towards the dam in the current with Cotton Cordele DEEP RedFins. Run them about 12-14 "clicks" behind the boat when using a baitcaster. Use some pretty heavy equipment and 15-20lb test line.

A lot of guys run up close to the boils and drop live bait to the bottom and jig it as they floar with the current. Ive never tried this way, but Ive heard it works. I prefer trolling for them. The hookups are AWESOME. Hope this helps you out some
