I am in need of some different water.. I live Harrison and always put in at HBSP, I live just 4 minutes from there and seem to be in a rut of always putting in there and staying within about a 15 minute boat ride from there at 55mph. I know Chick is a pretty large body of water so I either need to fish a different area or try a different lake. I was wondering what the bite is like up on Watts bar? I figure I could be to the ramp at Megis county park in a little over an hour.. How is the LMB fishing there? Would I be better going somewhere else?

Thanks for any help or info on Watts bar

You could drive over to Chester Frost and put in there. emoBigsmile Jmax

You will enjoy the Hiwassee...it's river fishing 101. Just pitch a dark soft plastic to every lay down and submerged log and hold on...</p>

Megs county park if it is the one I am thinking is still the chick. Real close to richland creek. This area is where I live. I do know people that has good luck on watts bar. But I am not one of them. I would rather fish nick than watts bar myself. But people do do good on it.

Sadly enough the comment about Chester Frost made me laugh too.. The Meigs county park I was talking about is just the other side of the Watts Damn so its on Watts.. Hiawassee sounds kind of interesting.. I actually prefer soft plastics along blow downs and such.. If I do choose that option do you have any suggestions on where would be a good place to start? Towards the TN river or more up the Hiawassee?? North bank or south bank? Just trying to get as much info as possible.. This would be a first time for me there.. How about shallow water or other water hazards ???? Thanks for the info

If you head downriver on the Hiwassee there are several good pockets on the north side (just before the intersection with the TN river) that have a good bit of cover. There is also a a cut or ditch that runs along the face of those pockets that has a ton of wood.

As far as hazards, the pockets I mentioned are separated from the main channel by a massive flat that has some good sized logs on it. Use your map and SI to find the little cuts that lead in.

Jason thanks for the tips. I really like fishing my weightless senko around cover and such, just cant get the deep thing going on. This should be more in line with how I prefer to fish..

The Hiwassee is a Tough bite right now! Especially with little to no current! Good luck I did hear that the Smallies at Tims Ford have been bitting good of late
