We are on watts bar stuck with out a big motor. We were runnin up the lake just fine around 55 mph and it's like you pulled the key out. Won't start back. It'll turn over and occasionally hit but won't stay running. We've checked for prime and all that it's gettin fuel but acts like something is killing the fire any help?? Thanks

Had that happen a long time ago but my recollection was that it was the power pack.

I had the same engine on a Stratos a few years back and it was the optical ignition. Once it cooled off would run fine

Mine did the same thing a month ago. Running great all day and heading back in and like you tossed the battery over board. Would crank just fine but would not hit at all. bad sensor

Thanks guys sorry we made it back in by trolling. No one would stop of course but if you hold the key over and let the starter spin it'll run but if you take your hand off the key or you try and put it in gear while turning the motor over it'll die.

I have had the same thing happen with a car. It was the ignition switch. The engine will run on the starter contacts but when you go back to the on position you have no current flow. Could also be down stream from the switch, maybe a relay or such.

Yea this happened once before a few months back and he put a new switch in it. It helped the problem but it still had the issue but it always started back until Saturday

I had a similar problem. I could not get the motor to start. It would start and when you let go of the switch it would die. I was told my problem was were the motor had sit that the oil had settled in the carbs and the hot weather had caused the gas to evaporate. They changed the plugs and drained the carbs, and it started. It ran the next time out, but I have not be out since. But since you were running this may not have been your problem.
