I recently came into possession of this "Rocker Lock" by Kitchen & McClay manufacturing. I googled both "Rocker Lock" and "Kitchen & McClay" and got no hits on either one. It is in the original box, apparently never used, and is accompanied by a letter from Mr. McClay dated December 17, 1965. I contacted Angling Artifacts, who responded that they had never seen one of these and did not know its purpose. It is certainly nicely made and looks like it would have been a top drawer piece of equipment in its day.

Has anyone here seen one of these and/or know what it is?

Alicia - that's definitely it! Thank you very much. Not sure why I couldn't find it myself, but you get 4 stars for best sleuthing.
Thanks,
Mike

FYI that cost of 39.75 in 2016 dollars comes out to $301.34 according to the dollartimes.com calculator. Don't let it go cheaply.

And to think, before outboards and before trolling motors ..people still caught fish every day.

It's been a number of years, but way up North in Wisconsin, it was still illegal to troll for muskies with a motor. That might have changed in 20 years or so. richg99
