Ive been hearing for the past few yrs and reading in the TN and Ga regs about the re-introduction of Sturgeon to this area and was wondering if any of you catch or see them... Ive been on the forum for about 6 mth now and dont remember ever reading about them here, did a search and found one referance of a posible one??

What ive seen on them, they catch them out west doing normal cat practices " bottom fishing with cut bait" seems like we would get one from time to time?? emoScratch emoScratch

A about two years ago I got to see one up close on Center Hill. It was up on a shallow rock flat in about five feet of water. I think it was sunning itself. I would say it was about 5 ft. long.

fish4thepeck - 2/10/2008 10:43 PM never heard of one in the Tennessee River system but they have showed up in the Cumberland river.</p>

There may possibly be an accidental one here and there, but according to a TWRA biologist, they have not been introduced near here.

I've seen 2 in the area. Both were about dead and floating, one was about 10 years ago below the dam. The other was last year and just up from Harrison Bay. Both were about 7lbs or so.

I know about three years ago they released some at Douglas Lake above Knoxville but I have not heard of any making it down this far as of yet.

PJ the Georgia regulation book says that sturgeon have been stocked in the Coosa river in the last few years. I know a number of catmen down there and to my knowledge they have not caught any yet.
