When the water is low, like it was Sunday the ramp is not very long. About 6 people spent over an hour helping a fellow retrieve his pontoon trailer from the ramp at Suck Creek. He was a Suck Creek ramp virgin who swore he'd never be back but he kept his head high.
He backed his trailer off the end of the ramp and it's a straight down drop if you go too far. There was about 6 feet of usable ramp that morning. Please check the Chickamauga flow schedule, including downstream elevation. (633' is low, 634-635 is normal)
There is a very good reference point for that ramp as well to avoid backing your trailer in the deep abyss. A piece of re-bar about 2 feet long is visible in the concrete near the water, you'll know it when you see it. When the water is near (or covering) that re-bar there is plenty of ramp space; likewise, the further down the water is the less ramp you have.
Heads up!
