I am fishing the flw tour tournament on tellico/loudon. tournament is on 3/29 - 4/1. i'm from Louisiana and i have never been there before. does anyone have some tips that they would like to share with me.

In that area of the ramp where you'll be putting in, have had success with tube jigs (natural colors like craw and shiner) with 1/8oz tube jigheads, as well as white flukes, and pop-r/buzzbaits.

As you leave the ramp, immediately to your right, you'll see a long line of rip-rap. At the end of the rip-rap, there is a large run-off/spill dam. Just passed that are some large chunk rock (just beneath the water but you can see them) which normally holds some fish.

A couple miles south of the ramp on Tellico; there is Tellico Village on the right. Lots of boatdocks there also good for tubes/flukes/spinnerbaits. Have not found many big bass in this area but have had good numbers.

Good luck with the tourney. Hope you'll post your results/experience with us here (maybe some pics too).

at the time you will be there is just about perfect for anything....fish will be close to spawn ......I like to start out with jerkbaits and cranks and spinnerbaits should be good too...if that slows down then throw the jigs/tubes and plastics...
weather could be a factor and probably will be to a certain extent...
I live about ten minutes from the ramp and we have a club tx next week there so Ill have some more info as we go along...I prefer Loudon just because the water has more color to it...both lakes have some monster fish in it but Tellico is usually gin clear and it takes several inches of rain to color it up...Both lakes are loaded with docks too....

I am fishing as a pro. its my first year on tour. i got the maps and i was overwheled with how big the lakes are.

Tellico usually warms up a bit faster than Loudon as it has very little current. On Tellico, Bat creek tends to have stained water and is a prespawn hotspot. Notchy creek is quite good as well. Baker Creek generally has clearer water and warms a bit slower but the sand/gravel bank with all the docks has been VERY good to me that time of year. If the aforementioned creeks are still a little cold for prespawn activity, a long ride up to Ballplay often yields water temperatures 5-6 degrees warmer than the rest of Tellico. I've slain 'em there on suspending jerkbaits. These areas are fairly well known but are good places to start.

can anyone tell me lures and colors size dat really work. is there a magic lure dat seem to catchem good in the early spring at this time of the year.

COPRO.... Loudon is such a long lake and some prefer different areas....just to keep from spending too much time running, I usually stay on Loudon from the Concord area down to the Canal area and up Tellico to about Vonore...
As I said before I prefer Loudon most of the time because of the water color and variety of places to fish...on Loudon there are at least 3-4 major creeks up to Concord and you really would have more than you can cover properly in a day maybe 2...on the main channel is a wide variety of structure types from flats to bluffs and everything in between..Turkey Creek and Prater Flats are just down stream from the Concord Ramp and are popular spring /spawning areas.....One of the other guys gave you a good rundown on the creeks on Tellico.
some people swear by the upper end of Loudon above Concord but I rarely venture beyond the Concord if I`m coming from the Canal. Did I hear somewhere that you all are putting in in Downtown Knoxville the last day ??
I guess there are always hot baits but I usually don`t find out about them till they are frozen again....Shaky Head finesse stuff has been good up here for the last couple of years but in the spring the standards usually work pretty good...Red and rootbeer cranks are usually pretty good and silver/black hard jerks...blue/back and chrome traps....green punkin for plastics ...
Your probably going to be fishing with winter pool conditions which is about 3-4 feet down...which doesn`t hurt you too much as far as loss of areas to fish...maybe the backs of some of the creeks.....but Tn weather may throw a glitch and have a flood about that time...
as far as grass ....forget it ..... there really ain`t none unless it floods then you can fish in peoples yards....both lakes used to have good amounts of milfoilbut it died or got killed out 15 or so years ago...there may be some different kinds on the extreme upper ends of both...but not enough to matter much.
I`ll get my maps out and try to look for some more specific areas some time soon..

Co Pro, are you going to be able to prefish? Do you have the maps yet? If not you can see them on line (structure only) at the USGS website. I have never fished the lake but am always interested if the tactics that I use work on other lakes and if you are interested in what I would try when you get there let me know and I'll mark up some maps from that site for you. What type of fishing is your strong point and what do you really like to fish? Shallow flats, points, channel bends? What are your favorite lures to fish. Would you rather flip than anything else? That type of info lets me know where to send you. If you are interested, let me know.
