Where did my post go? Sorry about that, guys...must have lost it while submitting the picsemoScratch. Let me try it again. We put in at Wolftever around 9am and, having no clue where to go since we had not read the board or wet a line for nearly two weeks, decided to hit a roadbed first. On my first cast with a jig, I nailed a 3lbr. After another hour of hauling water, I began to think that the dreaded curse of the 'first cast bass' was more than an old wive's tale. Around 10am or so, we decided to check out some more offshore spots and waved to JMax as he was heading in. By noon I was getting the feeling that we were fishing waaaay too deep, so we made a run up to Skull Island to fish the weeds and wood. Bingo! The largemouth were holding tight to laydowns and isolated patches of duckweed in 2 to 4 feet. It was just like fishing the Hiwassee on a bluebird day...pitch a 8" lizard or 10" worm to something isolated and shady and land a 2lb or better bass. While trolling from one spot to the next, we were able to pick up a bunch of schoolers by fancasting the flats. Later in the afternoon, we moved across the river to the little bay just above Sequoyah and the found that the same pattern worked, however, the weight of the bass was a little better. The bush in the picture above was in less than two feet of water, but it held two bass over 3lbs and the big one, which was just under 6lbs. At the end of the day, we had caught eleven bass over 15" with seven being 3lbs or better. It was by far the best day I've ever had on the Chick and will be tough, if not impossible, to beat.
