Got out this morning with Jeff for some crappie. We caught 30 with 19 keepers. We also had a few bluegills, 2 yellowbass, 3 spots, 1 lm, 2 warmouths, and 2 smallmouth. We caught them on minnows in open water near ledges that go from 8-30 ft. The largest today was 1.9 lbs and Jeff caught it. The crappie were relating to shade in those open water spots also. We fished from 3-5 ft deep with slipfloats.

Great to hear that you are still in touch with the fish out on the main lake. Are the fish still full of eggs or do you think that some have spawned out and come back to the main lake? Do you know what the water temp was up there for you?

That's a great catch, Steve. Do you think that the crappie were suspended that shallow or coming up to take the bait from deeper? I know that in the winter time crappie will sometime come up from 15 feet deep to take a tube fished 6 feet deep.

The females were full of eggs. The larger females had the runny type of egg sacks and the smaller females were not as developed. We tried counting down various colored jigs to see about the bigger fish being deeper and only got 1-2. We also did alot of depth adjusting on our slipfloats to see about the deeper fish. They might have been deeper but we didn't catch many that way. The water was 62-63* in the areas we fished.
