Headed out today with Bill Young from Birmingham, and his two young'uns (Kitty and Eddie) ... although they're not that young. emoBigsmile Ran across Whisler and Jeff (see hazy sunrise pic). It was a pretty hot bite first 30 minutes and then it turned into the Dead Sea. emoBang I knew the generators were supposed to fire up, but they didn't kick 'em in hard (all four generators) until 10 AM. And sure 'nuff, it turned the fish on pretty good... like flipping a switch. We put several nice fish in the boat in an hour, missed a bunch and lost a few, including one fish that Kitty couldn't get off the bottom emoEek .... we filled up both coolers the Youngs brought with them and Bill said, "Let's call it a day. I don't like catchin' them and turning them loose." emoLaugh I thought that was pretty funny because many folks I take out say they don't like keeping them. Bill is old school. If it comes in the boat it wins a free ride to the freezer. We left the fish bitin', but just as well... the August thermostat was rising fast. But if you can stand the heat, catfishin' seems to be picking up now that we've got some good generation/flow in the afternoons. Life is good and gettin' better every day!

  Good job!

We left when the fish quit biting and went below the dam. I had a BIG cat on for a few minutes until it chewed through the 40lb leader. My 8 ft rod was creaking and popping when I had to wrestle it out of the rod holder. That was the only bite below the dam and it was on a skipjack head. We left around 12 noon. Nice sunrise picture.emoThumbsup

Thanks for the good report rsimms. I'm really glad that you are still on the fish. I hope to get out a couple of times this week.
