Swim baits

Like to hear some some thoughts on what people think about big swim biats.

They just dont work! You have to go somewhere like Souther California to use one!

JK!- I like them. They are not a numbers bait but a bite is usually a keeper if you can jam the 6/0 hook home.

I like the Storm Wildeye swim baits. The get hung alot but I've had good luck fishing the 3" bluegill.

I don't have much confidence in large swim baits so they get very little of my limited fishing time. I will add that two of my friends, both excellent bass anglers, fished a small lake in Walker County this past Sunday. One used jigs, rattletraps, shaky head, jerkbaits, silver buddy's, and spinnerbaits. The other used swimbaits only.

It was a tough day for fishing. Strong winds, clear then cloudy skies. 2 small fish were caught on a silver buddy. Nothing on a 8" swimbait. The 8" swimbait was fished about 3 hours in different depths and presentations and finally replaced with a 4" swimbait in a shad color and profile. It was fished the same way and produced a 4 1/4 lb LM. It was the only keeper out of 7 hrs fishing.

They probably have their time and place, I just haven't found it yet.
