Some of you have great success with these heavy swimming baits. How do you work them? Line test..Rod size...reel gear.

Jason and I where into schools today and I tossed a Berkley Power Swimbait and got notta...nothing!

I'd like to hear what gives..

All sorts of ways to use them. I'm no expert by any means. I usually drag them like a jig across the bottom, sometimes I'll kind of pop them a bit. You can slowly just reel the in , just off the bottom. You can also burn it in. Reel as fast as you can for about 10 cranks and then let if fall back to the bottom.

As for equipment, I use a revo with 17lb flourocarbon( probably need 20lb) and my mossyback. My mossyback isn't big or stiff enough though. You really need about 7+ foot rod that is extra heavy. Those baits do work Billy, I am sold on them. I have been shown the light!!

I do the burn fall method myself. It seems to get them excited to bite the thing. I seem to have a hard time getting a good hook set though.:( Jmax

i use a 6'10 flippin and pitchin stick with 14 lb flouracarbon on a high speed curado ,it works for me .the bite i usually get when i slow roll it on bottom is a thump and let the rod load up then set the hook , i mostly use the storm wild shiner .just my 2cents it works for me .
