I've wondered if any swimbaits would catch bass around this part of the world so has anyone out there had any luck with them? I saw where Mark Davis got some on Loudon off the King Shad swimbait but I didn't know if that was an exception and not the rule. I've never used them nor seen anyone chunking them in the waters around here. I'm going to Watts Bar for the week starting this Saturday and thought about buying one or two but undecided if it would be worth the trouble. I've seen people starting to post on sites saying they've used them on Guntersville but I've only been down there once. If anyone's had any luck, or none at all, I'd appreciate any insight to help me make this decision. Thanks guys/gals.

Alot of the swimbaits they were throwing look a lot like a Sassy shad, which is technically a swimbait. I and many others have been throwing it for years. I also throw a 6'" Storms Wild eye shad for Rockfish. Did luck up on a 19" sm on it last year. So the bass around here will hit the big one, but when I'm bass fishing I throw a 4" on a 1oz. head.

Nothing mimics bait-fish like a swimbait. If you "match the hatch", a swimbait should kill 'em anywhere.emoFish

Just like everything else in this crazy country, swimbaits started on the west coast and eventually will be widely used here...just my .02...emoUpsmile

I've tried several swimbaits. Some of them look so realistic coming through the water I can't imagine a bass letting it pass. But, I have not had one hit and my confidence in them is very low. It may just be my presentation or just not giving them enough fishing time.

I plan on trying them some more and maybe I'll have better luck.

On Verses this weekend I saw a man catching Peacock bass on a soft Swimbait that he made himself and I immediately thought I wanted to try the same thing here. He was catching massive fish.

Any of you using the swimbaits know of any good Soft plastics?

I have several of these http://mattlures.com/. The look and swim perfectly. But, I have no confidence in them. Mainly because I don't give them the college try. I will be chunking the bluegill around beds soon though.

That is one sweet bluegill there!
