T.W.R.A. HAVE BEEN AT P-VILLE FOR TO WEEKS SHOCKING UP ALL THE SPOTTED BASS THEY CAN AND THEY KEEPING THEM AND KILLING THEM I GUESS THIS IS DISGUSTING GUYS SHAME ON T.W.R.A THEY TOLD ME THEY WANTED THEM ALL GONE THAT THEY WAS GETTING IN THE TENNESSEE RIVER SYSTEM. I HOPE THEY PUT SOME LARGEMOUTH BACK IN THERE PLACE.

I asked TWRA Regional Biologist Mike Jolley about this post. He said, "The reservoir crew made one trip up there a couple of weeks ago looking at crappie. They had very little success. They only saw a couple of Alabama bass and several largemouth. NONE were kept or disposed of. We did get a good sample of yellow perch... we recorded lengths and weights and released them all."

He said they will return to Parksville for more shocking. As some know, they have stocked blacknose crappie in Parksville and continually monitor that population. They also do routine shocking of black bass for annual monitoring of age & growth. But again, all fish (spots, largemouth or smallmouth) are released.

Let's all share "attributable" facts when we can please. emoThumbsup

</div><div></div><div>Over the past couple years I have heard from several different people claiming to have seen TWRA load up the fish tank on their truck withspotted bass and taking them somewhere. I haven't seen it with my own eyes and I hope it's not true. I did see them up there a couple weeks ago, there were two shock boats. I hope the fact that theydidn't find many crappie doesn't scare them fromcontinuing to stock them. They'reprobablynot in the numbers TWRA would like to see them inthere yet, but Jim and I can both say that we've caught a lot more crappie this winter than ever. Most every place we catch bass with the fly, we caught a few crappie it seemed like. Even found a couple schools of crappie on the lower part of the lake, which is something I have never seen before. </div>

Most of the crappie we have caught have been 8-10". I would guess most of these would have come from the first stocking two and a half years ago. There are two more classes that should be coming up the next two years, will be interesting to see what happens.</p>

Well what i have heard from a credible source is that the TWRA is shocking up some spots and loading them in a truck. I was told by a TWRA officer himself that they want the spots eradicated from the lake because they are getting in the Tennessee River. I'm not here trying to bash the TWRA because they do a great job I just hope this isn't true because it will ruin Parksville Lake. I've caught less and less spotted bass in the lake each year for the past 5 years. I used to catch 50 or 60 a trip and now you are lucky to catch 10 or 15 on a good day.

That's what I told the TWRA officer. He said the ones that are already in the Tennessee River are kentucky spots and that they dont want the alabama spots that are in parksville to get established in there because it will cause problems with the smallmouth population.

Hbnel5on - 4/9/2016 11:36 AM The Tennessee River already has spots? That doesn't make any sense
</p>

The spots in Parksville are a differant species then what is in the TN River . Not sure TWRA would just go and kill a bunch of bass. I know they don't like those spot being in there but let's be honest , it's the only " trophy" spotted bass lake in the state . Why would they not want that ?! Doesn't make sense to me . As far as largemouth go, they seem to be doing pretty well up there , but overall it's not great habitat for largemouth. It's perfect for spots and smallmouth. Hope the crappie catch on up there . But the lack of threadfin will slow them down too .</p>

I tried to get T.W.R.A to stock smallmouth in there 25yrs ago. I dont know whats going to happen to p-ville but I know what it could be. Its a great spotted bass fishery now. I hope it can stay that way there is no limit on the spots so they must want them gone.Me in the officer talk a good while about it last year and i see there reasoning by not wanting them in the tennessee river but its to late now cause there in it.We will see what comes of it.

Mr.simms see if you can get to put some walleye and largemouth in there it would be a great walleye fishery.

What you heard was rumor, plain and simple. People see shock boat and "ASSUME" they are killing fish and start rumors. If TWRA or any other agency wanted to kill off a species of fish in a body of water as large as Parksville there is only one way to do it, poison the whole lake and start fresh. We all know that wont happen. The did take the daily creel off the Spots there to reduce the competition for the limited forage in the lake to assist the largemouth and crappie fishery, thats it. I would suggest before making statements like this in the future possibly getting a hold of the fisheries biologists to confirm or deny the rumors. Contrary to popular belief, they will tell the public the truth, they have nothing to hide.

B-TRACKER - 4/12/2016 10:42 AM

there is no creel limit on spoted bass on p-ville. so how many did they keep then?

How many did who keep? TWRA doesn't keep fish they shock, they take data from them and return to the lake.

i am sorry spur i missed read your post.and twra does keep some fish they shock to cause i have been in the boat with them when they have kept fish.all i know is they told me they wanted them gone because they were getting in the tn. river and hiwasse river.we will see what comes of it.

Where are they taking them?

I just know have seen them exit the lake on a boat via the ramp. Who knows. Might get cleaned, maybe thrown out in a ditch.

How many fish are we talking?

I never saw a fish get thrown back, I dont know how many were shocked up. I watched a few fish get shocked and put in the boat and watched the boat leave without turning a single fish out. Could have kept 5. Could have kept 500. I dont know.
