i watch my tach most of the time, and noticed it not working properly it will work sometimes and not. was told that the rectifier might be going bad? i have not looked for a loose connection yet just my thought? thought some one might have a idea on this or experinced this before. emoScratch

May be a loose connection, bad tach, or a stator/rectifier issue. They are so hard to test. I have a good tach with a test harness that I hook it up and watch it. If both my tach and the one on the boat act up, then it is a stator/rectifier issue. If my tach works normal while the boat tach acts up, then it is a wiring issue or tach issue. Looked at one last night that was a wiring issue because he had already replaced the tach and mine worked fine. then I hooked up his old tach directly at the engine and it worked fine. Just my experiences.
