Tachometer troubleshooting ?

Is the needle not reading correctly?

seems to be reading up to a certain rpm and gets stuck ,I can pound on it and it will move up a little more

On the back of the unit is a slotted plastic switch that you can turn with a coin/flat head screwdriver. First look where the arrow is pointed and make sure you put it back in the same spot. Turn it all the way left and then all the way right to "clean" the contacts. That is the best explanation I can give you bud.

What motor do you have? Possible to have a regulator/rectifier issue. Been there with that one before. Could be a bad tach or wiring.
