Hello,

We just bought a new pontoon boat. We are going to take my 5 year old son out tommorrow evening probably at Wolftever. He loves to fish in my parents pond because the bass bite so well. I would like to put him on some fish (bream, Shellcracker or any other kind) that will bite well and keep him interested. What type bait and technique would be good right now. Thanks.

Thanks,
Daren

Try in Harrison Bay near the boat slips. Fish all along the entire left bank from the boat ramp all the way out to the main channel. There are all kinds of rocks and stumps that hold many fish. Put on a float about two feet above a small hook and toss it toward the bank. That little fellow can use worms and/or crickets and have a blast. There are a lot of bass that hang out on that bank as well.

Take some pics and share a fishing report on how you do.

Very nice info, LL. I wish I had some knowledge of the area to help out with. Looking forward to hearing how the trip went with the 5 yr old Darren12!

I can't offer any fishing info for Chick, emoSorry ,but I hope your 5 yr old wears em out !

Well we went out this evening and I know why I dont go during the weekend evenings. We didn't catch any fish. It was hot and so many jet skiers and boats moving it was hard to fish and his attention span was just not in it this evening. So we just decided to ride and enjoy the scenery. We did have a funny incident. We were following behind a large cabin cruiser and the waves were really big due to this and the wind, so we went of to the right and as we went over the waves the big pontoon went nose first into one and a 10 foot wall of water just covered us up. My son said "WoW we are like the crab fisherman". It really felt that way. Didnt get to take any pics, didnt take the regular camera and planned to just use the one on my phone, well I forgot it to. Oh well we are going to try again maybe next week. Still had a good time!!!

Don't forget that area i pointed out to you. The reason i gave you that spot is due to the fact that it is in a no wake zone and away from boat and sea-doo traffic.

The next time go back in HB to the right of the ramp going in and fish in that last cove. Your little guy can catch bluegill and bass back there.
