It was a slow start for my crappie season this year. But they finally kicked in good last week. In the last eight trips my clients have boated 256 keeper crappie (32 per trip average). The catch rate has been 5.45 keepers per hour fishing (zillions of short fish). Last year I ended my crappie season at an overall 4.7 per hour average.
We've had lots of "squeakers," crappie just over the legal 10-inch mark. But along the way we've had a few huge crappie that easily qualified for the "Tennessee Angler Recognition Program" (TARP Awards). Hopefully more to come.
