Anyone know of a good taxidermist in the area? I live in Sale Creek, but willing to travel a little bit if I need to. Also, does anyone have any idea what it might cost to get a duck mounted? Thanks for any help........Jim

Shane Smith does great work. Also, "The bird stuffer" (Kermit Cartwright) is in Chattanooga and does good work. You can google him for the website. Congrats on the trophy. Did you end up going to AR?

I use Kermit he does good work you can find him @ WWW.thebirdstuffer.com. he will also pickup and deliver and he runs about $245 for a duck I think. You can look in the "bragging board" on this site for a post I did on a wood duck Drake he did for me

The birdstuffer has had my two buffleheads for over two years and hasn't started on them yet. I hope they are worth the wait. Mark Benfield in Lincolnton, NC (704-732-2168) does the absolute best waterfowl mounts I've ever seen. Shane Smith Taxidermy does good work. Remember, details make a huge difference on bird mounts. A good taxidermists will make the bird look life-like. Choose wisely. Mounts are not cheap and you keep them for a long time.

I've had the same problem with the bird stuffer taking a long time to get a bird back to me, but I've heard Shane Smith's backlog means that he takes a while to get birds back. Any insight to the guys who's had him or M Shipman do work...how long to get it back?

Plan is to go to Ark, but wanted to know what it would cost and where to take one if we happen to shoot any. We need to decide whether to stuff or eat before we come back!!! Thanks to all for the responses......Jim

shane smith is the only person i would let mount a duck around here for me if i wasnt wanting to ship it .....pat pit is the other i would let do it he lives in missisippii and him and shane work together a lot u can ask shane about him he is awesome and cheaper than shane

M shipman does not play around. He believes in his work. He is at most outdoor shows and he also keeps up with new mounts. He did my fish and i got it back pretty quick. He can fix any mounts. He does smallmouth, bass, crappie,bears,deer, all kinds of birds and all kind of exotic mounts. He is also a member on this site somewhere. His web site does no justice you need to go see his work. If you can kill it he can mount it. LOL no exwifes.
