Even though I should be resting my arm, its hard staying away from the fishy friends. Work has allowed me to get out a few times this week, so I tried to take advantage of it. Went out with the original intention of getting bait, but did very little of it. Spent the whole time on this brute!
I was using a live bluegill, and had caught one flathead already fishing a hole with a current eddy. After a few snags I finally settled my bait into the hole again. I held the rod for a bit, but just locked it into the rod holder when drag started screaming. I love the sound of that braided line going off a reel!
took about 45 minutes to wear him down enough to land with one good arm. Like Richard, I had no net that night, and had to do it by hand. Thankfully its easier with flatheads!

Brute weighed about 73 LBS!! Caught him on same rod and reel that my 87 was caught on. What a hoot!!!
Length was 50"
Girth: 34.25"
Of course solo, no camera but my phone...I did the best I could
