tbinchrist, Nickamonster, Blues & PB MONSTER STRIPER!!!, 4/17/14-4/18/14, Tim & Joe, Solo
Had two days straight of fishing! Wohoo! Had a blast fishing with Tim & Joe. Joe was from Oklahoma, and Tim is a local. Both days proved very tough on the big cats, but we did put lots of numbers in the boat! Still between both days the biggest we could manage was 21 lbs. Fought the wind Thursday, and Friday the current got pulled way back and the fish hadn't gotten into the grove. Friday a peeler hit and it was the fish we were looking for! Sadly the hook was in the bait when it popped out. emoEnforce
Anyhoo, after we quit I tell them Im going back to where we started if they care to hang around. They decide they have had enough fish so I head out solo. Spot 1...few bitty channels. Spot 2, one baby blue. Spot 3, nothing. Spot 4, 44# & 38# (What, thats not supposed to happen!) Of course I'm alone!
Spot 6 nothing...return to spot 1...ok what happened??
Must have been that firey sunset cuz the fish were on fire too! started hammering blues when an Okuma Reel starts smoking! And I mean I was worried it would spool me. Finally it stops and I feel some shaking to look to see an enormous fish clear several feet of water and crash down. I scream im so thrilled but wasn't for sure exactly what I saw. I'm expecting a catfish on so my brain was still trying to work that out. Unreal...I was totally shocked by what I saw!
42 inch length
30 inch girth
MASSIVE 47LB Striper!!!
I was hooping and hollering.
Really wanted this fish to live so I tried to be as fast as I could and do as much with it in the water as possible.
Took a long time to finally revive it, but she bolted off and never surfaced emoParty
One in a million shot on that fish, and I felt blessed the Lord allowed it to tug on my line. I will admit its the largest striper I've ever seen. Thing was packed full!
Oh yeah, caught several more cats over 20lbs, but the striper stole the show on this trip!
