I’ve been reading through some of the posts on this section and it has been both entertaining and educational. I told myself that nothing good would come of me posting anything. So the logical thing to do of course, was to post something…
As cliché as it might be, I think that the old “give a man a fish vs. teach a man to fish” proverb is really what it all boils down to in our current situation. Most people in Washington today, from both parties, seem to have lost sight that it is better to equip people with the knowledge and abilities to figure out how to get what they need than it is to give them what they need. We have created a culture in which people think that they are entitled to be taken care of by the government. Bailouts, stimulus plans and government run health care are simply adding to this problem. Nothing is being fixed; we are just taking band aids off of bullet holes to put them on paper cuts.
