God is good! (more to come on that line)

Teddy and I lucked up a few months ago when I fixed a trailer for a guy that had no idea what he was doing. I heard he had some farm land...about 300 acres and thought I might see if he would open up to let us bow hunt it. He did and this place is loaded with deer. Unfortunately, we never got any shots off with bows but this morning was different.

We have to walk a freaking 100 miles to get into where we hunt (no key to gate) and quite frankly, I didn't even want to climb that tree but I did. Got all situated and sat back in my Viper. (Love that stand!) As I'm sitting there, I'm getting texts from my mother who is totally against the whole deer killing thing or hunting in general! You guys have NO IDEA how bad she gets too! She says shes praying I never see one and God keeps those deer safe. I on the other hand did send up a note asking him to bless us if he saw fit.

WELL....I guess it was about an hour or so into our sit when I saw a good size doe coming in on my left hand side. she went right behind a tree and from learning from my mentors (Teddy and Pat) i very quickly yet quietly, grabbed the smoke stick. Immediately looked down the scope and waited for her to come around the tree. when i was about to fire, my line of sites caught a few trees in the path so I wait a bit longer. As soon and she stepped out and i saw the sweet spot, i hammered down! She ran about 25 yards and hit the ground!

A few seconds after that, all you heard through the woods was " Hell Yeah!" LOL! I look at my phone and see Teddy has just texted me...Of course I reply with "Brown is Down" Teddy says stay put...OK, I tried real hard and I mean real hard but the rush that was going through my body was freaking unreal. WOW! I said piss on it and climbed down. Walked over to my kill and just started smiling from ear to ear. I finally did it.

So, after about an hour of texting and talking to people, another shot rang out. 2 does on a AM hunt and meat in the freezer. I'm pretty damn stoked about it! I hunted about 16 years ago for right at 3 years and saw 1 deer cross my path at maybe 15 yards. I missed and sold my stuff that next week.

God must have answered my moms prayers this morning. I sure hope she understands.
