Obviously, the temp will be highly variable with a dynamic weather situation. The warm rains muddy the rivers and raise the temperature in the headwaters and creeks feeding the reservoirs, while the main stems and tailwaters are not affected until later. The water in the Watts Bar lock channel was 44 degrees and fairly clear on Tuesday, whereas the Hiwassee River at Charleston was very muddy at 49 when checked yesterday. USGS data showed temps as high as 52 on some very muddy inflows.

49 when I put in at CFP, 54 in sloughs , out of the wind.

I got excited when I saw a 50 degree reading Thursday for the first time in quite awhile. It should keep going up looking at temperatures for next week.
