This may be old news....But I know of at least two clubs who were about to make a mistake over this, this weekend..........
The Tennessee 2008 Fishing Guide has GUNTERSVILLE listed as haveing know lenth limit this year with a total of 5 creel on largemouth and spotted bass.........
I called Alabama fishiers and they said, that they have already been having problems with what Tennessee listed in their Guides. One man even tried to tell the Alabama game warden that he was wrong and showed him the Tennessee Guide that said know length limit on largemouth.....Alabama length on Largemouth at Guntersville in Alabama is still 15 inches this year....know Length on spotted bass and smallmouth are also 15 Inches....
So just for fun, I called Tennessee and ask them about the listing in the 2008 guide.... They said, that they had know ideal how, or why, a listing for Guntersville was in the Tennessee guide.....That the area below Nick-A-Jack damm in Tennessee was not considered as Guntersville. They just call it part of the Tennessee river.....
If this is old news I'm sorry.....I think we pay enought for out lisc. without having to pay any more on undue tickets.

There is approx. 1000 acres of ther Tennessee river still in the state of tennessee below Nickajack Dam. Don't get out of it unless you are using Alabama Regs. as your guide. Likewise don't take smallmouth from Alabama up to the dam, unless you want a ticket. That section of the Tennessee River now carries an 18" size limit on smallies. In 2008, four miles of PICKWICK and the upper area of GUNTERSVILLE are now under the new 18 " provision for smallmouth.

I haven't checked the 2008 regs, but as far as I know, There is no length limit on Largemouth for the Tennessee section of Guntersville.  Yes, Virginia, there is a section of Guntersville in Tennessee.  You had better know where the State line is if you keep a short LM.

I slightly misspoke guys, sorry about that.  I realize there are portions of "Guntersville" in Tennessee, I was applying my dam to dam statement for other impoundments like Wheeler and Wilson, stating that they don't consider any part of those lakes back ot the "tennessee river."</p>

As Carl said the best thing if you are fishing that area, know the state line and both states legal limits.  I believe the power lines on the north end of Long Island is the agreed upon marker.</p><ul>[*]Alabama Guntersville (Long Island Powerlines - Guntersville Dam) - 10 fish limit combined black bass, 15" minimum on LM and SM, no length limit on SP.[*]Tennessee Guntersville (Nickajack Dam to Long Island Powerlines) - 5 fish limit combined black bass, 1 SM 18" minimum, no length limit on LM or SP.  [/list]

That is how I read it at least... I try to understand this well as I fish that area occasionally.</p>
