The TFHA is holding it's spring training camp at Hiwassee Refuge --545 Priddy Rd Birchwood, TN 37308 on March 17-19. This is a FREE event. Trapping and fur handling from A to Z. Updates on Tennessee's laws and regulations for the sport, trap modification, how to and where to target species specific animals, snaring, land trapping, water trapping, etc. There is a trap line demo. Meals will be provided Friday evening, Saturday three meals and Sunday breakfast. There will be primitive camping allowed in designated areas. This is a great time for young and old. There will be a give away for the kids. For more information you can contact John Daniel at 423-413-2311 or can leave a voicemail at 423-595-0986 plus can email at [email protected]. This is absolutely a fantastic camp to keep one of America's oldest heritages thriving!

Is this a all day event Saturday I'd like to take my son but we have something we have to do in the morning.

Yes, it is an all day event on Saturday. However, feel free to drop in at any time. There will be classes and hands on demos throughout the day and into the early evening. On Sunday morning after breakfast, all the trap lines will be ran and the traps pulled at the conclusion.
All the folks that put on the demos are true craftsmen of this profession and heritage. They will talk, explain, show and let you take part in each demonstration that each of these fur harvesters put on during this event. This is truly a great event not only with the knowledge that is shared but with the new friends that will be made. The kids absolutely love the comradery as well.
