Since I am a Vol or former Vol fan, I might as well tick everyone off.
This isn't a criticism, just an observation. Vol coaches were trying to make a folk hero out of Crompton on his first start. It didn't work.
QB might be really good in practice, but when you overthrow the receivers by a good 5 yards on one play, and then bounce the ball 3 yards short of them on the next play, it is hard for the great receivers to make a play.
To my knowledge, Tennessee threw the ball on every 2nd down regardless of how many yards that were gained on 1st down. I don't think that 2 running plays were called in a row. If the QB was checking off to a pass, then he needs to be coached up some more.
In my opinion, they were saving all the motion plays that they have been talking about for weeks for Georgia, Florida, Auburn and Alabama. This is Tennessee's sneaky way of getting those teams over confident when the Vols come up on their schedule.
UCLA definitely wanted the game much more than Tennessee did. That much is obvious.
It really doesn't matter how little yards the other team gets during a game, if the defense folds like a lawn chair when the game is on the line. UCLA, with 1 timeout and 70 yards away, still managed to drive the ball down Tennessee's throat. It happens all the time when good teams play the Vols. Chavis must go. I have been saying that for years and I won't be back on the Vol bandwagon until that arogant jerk leaves or gets run off.
Don't know what happened to the kicker. He was much better last year. You shouldn't be missing 34 yard FG's in OT when the game is on the line.
Finally, I got sick when I read one comment from a player from Tennessee. "At least it wasn't a conference game." This game really wasn't important to the Vols. Didn't matter that they had a national audience. Only Mississippi State and Tennessee were embarrassed this past weekend in the SEC.
Finally #2. I think that Tennessee thought that they had the game in the bag before the kickoff and Fullmer likes to play these close games and not play to win big. He will get embarrassed a few more times this year. Do you think that Saban, Meyer, Richt or Tuberville will show any mercy? Nada. This thing could get ugly before it's over.
