Just checking to see if all the vol fans where able to sleep well Monday night. Tuesday would have been the best day to have the hookie tournament. If the tournament would have been on Tuesday all the vol fans would not have to went to work heads down and listen to all the Dawg fans celebrating. Atleast you guys only have one loss on your record. You still have the rest of the good teams to play in the SEC. SURELY they are not all as good as UCLA. One good thing is the Dawgs are still undefeated and a good chance to be national champs so now would be a good time to convert over to the good side.

Yes the slaying of Ga. Southern is something to be proud of. Those 1-AA teams sure are tough aren't they . With the pups schedule they will be lucky to get out of this year without 2 losses and if you do make it to the championship game, have a good time with SC. They played division 1 school on the road and still put up 50+ points. So far they are the team to beat, IMO of course. emoBigsmile

Hey Paulj, I am a former Vol fan who really likes all the teams in the SEC that are well coached. Even Alabama. I thought that they were awesome. Quality win against the #9 team in the nation. Georgia, Florida, LSU and Auburn looked really strong against cupcakes. South Carolina looks to have a very good defense and if Spurrier can get the QB's to come around, they may be a team to watch out for.

All that cackling sound that's coming from Knoxville is to be expected. That's what a chicken does when it lays an egg. Coaching staff afraid to run their offense. I rued the day that Chavis turned down the opportunity to go to the pros this past year.

SEC east in mho. Florida, Georgia, SC, Tennessee, Ky, and Vanderbilt.
SEC west LSU, Alabama, Auburn, Ole Miss, Arkansas and Miss St.
SEC championship game. Florida over LSU.

I hope that I am wrong and the Vols go 11-1. But if UCLA can beat the Vols with their 3rd string QB and 3 starters gone by the middle of the first quarter, an inexperienced o-line, and 2 defensive tackles and 1 linebacker, then I don't see much hope for the Vols against the other well coached teams in the SEC. This year would be a good year for the Vols to be in the ACC.

I slept fine Monday night and had no reason to hold my head down around any Dawg fan. After all, the Dawgs didn't beat us, UCLA did. No excuses at all. The Vols got beat on the field and on the sidelines, but, one loss doesn't make a season.

BTW, don't the Dawgs have to play some of those same SEC powerhouses or have they already put them in the W column along with the formiddable Ga Southern ? emoSmile

There's a lot of football yet to be played.

Yea,.... emoLaugh I was wondering the same thing. I am not much of a T fan but that game would make anyone feel bad for them. I would like to say my Hogs are undefeated right now. emoParty emoApplause .....O.K. so they have only played a red and white game +plus one...but still they are "Right now" undefeated. emoBigsmile Go Hogs! Beat anyone you can! emoEvil Jmax

why cant tn start the year off with a warm up game, like say against ga.southern.but hey we will get to beat up on ga again this year so thats something to look forward to.

Well, most of you know that I'm a Tarheel fan..... and they AIN'T known for Football. But as a new resident to TN in the past year and watching from afar since I moved up there years ago from the south, just talking football guys.... why didn't they run the ball with that running back and the HUGE, oppressive offensive line everyone's been writing and talking about?!?!?!?!? I'm also concerned anytime a team gets the ball off 4 interceptions and still cannot put the game away. If their defense doesn't pick it up and stop the quick score, especially with the game on the line, it will be tough to watch another late game without heartache. I couldn't believe how seemingly with ease UCLA was able to march down the field with the game on the line. Reminded me of watching Denny Green's coaching back in Minnesota when the Vikings should have won them all.... the prevent does not prevent scoring, it helps create opportunity. He's got the team, they've got to make better game plans and exploit their strengths. My .02

Yeah... I don't understand Tenn mentality either. Its not like you guys don't have any cupcakes on your schedule. (UAB, NIU, WY) I'm a believer in getting some live action practice before you play against the big boys. Why not tee it up against someone like MTSU or TennTech? Then fly out west week 2.

And you better believe them dawgs are gonna be ready for your ugly orange pants this year! Rested up and coming off a bye week, Goooooo Dawgs! Sic em!

Jim your poor hogs had to come from behind to beat another 1-aa team.
..

I know! emoScratch they kind of stick this year...thus the ...."Beat anyone you can!" cheer. emoBigsmile

As bad as TN looked are probably are, they will go 8-4 and they will upset a couple teams. Most likely AL or Ga. If i were a Ga fan i would sit quite. you have some serious issues with injury and suspensions. I think TN hung half a hundred on Ga last year and Ga,

Ga will most likely end up with a record equal or worse than Tn at years end.

It is the SEC. bad mouth TN all you want but you might be the one they upset! then what will you say? Right now they only team safe to run their mouth about TN is UCLA!

Like i said eariler in the week, yes Clawson should have run the ball more on 2nd and 3rd down but all in all he called a pretty good game. If you watched, the WR were open Crompton just could not get it there. I am sure there were some lessons learned and UAB will pay for the UCLA loss. and i would not be surprised if TN beats Fl.

IT IS THE SEC. anyone can beat anyone at any time!

Spence, I liked your unbiased observations. They are right on the money. The only people who can't see this is die-hard Fullmer/Chavis fans who will settle for mediocrity all the time. The late collapses have been going on since Chavis was named defensive co-ordinator. The coaching staff isn't smart enough to make adjustments on the fly. I think that the Tennessee coaching staff was trying to make a hero out of Crompton in the very first game and he just wasn't up to it. The vaunted o-line didn't block very well and when they did, Jonathon severely overthrew open receivers or badly underthrew them. Fullmer blamed the receivers for running bad routes, but whoever believes that the blame all goes to the receivers have orange tinted eyes and can't see the forest for all these stupid trees.

8-4 or 7-5 is probably what Tennessee's record will look like at the end of the year and most Vol fans will be tickled to go to a second tier bowl. This should be the level of expectation that Vols fans get as long as Chavis is in charge. The chicken laid an egg in LA and for years, the coaching staff has coached to not lose a game rather than go out and beat the crap out of inferior teams and that includes this year's UCLA crippled up team. "That's all I have to say about that." Forrest Gump emoBigsmile emoGeezer

I had to hear the same thing from my Ga. kinfolks.... but during my life span I haven't had to hear it much and I'm AARP. I was disappointed in at the Chief for not pinning their ears back and coming after th Qb in the second half. Also, I thought Tn's corners should have moved up and played alot tighter. I aint to sure about our new offense either. Looks like it going to be a long season for me. I hate working in Alabama
