This morning the Drumking and I hit the Watts Bar tail waters to try our luck with the white bass. We fished from about 7:30 a.m. with one generator running until 11 a.m. when they turned on 3 more. It was a beautiful morning to be on the water. Final score was 1 skipjack, somewhere between 80 and 100 white bass (with 23 qualifying for a free shuttle back to Ooltewah) 1 stripe (Drumking), one 3 pound largemouth (Drumking), and the tennfisher scored his very first ever smallmouth, a three pound beauty that was gently released to grow some more. I can see where those smallmouth could prove to be addicting. The drumking was his usual patient teacher, and this student much appreciated the guidance.

Sorry I missed that Spur, the bait of choice was Foley Spoons, 2 inch size in white or chartreuse. Couldn't really tell a preference, they were both very productive. Didn't try the popping cork presentation. All fish were caught using 1/2 ounce sinker above a bead and a barrel swivel tied to a fluorocarbon leader. Fun with a capital F. emoBigsmile

Was doing a little pre fishing a couple of weeks ago and the white bass were at sequoya. Couldn't resist. They are lots of fun to catch.

Howard, it was my great pleasure to take you below Watts Bar and show you the ropes. As you could probably tell, the secret to catching fish is location, location, location. Grin. Along with a little technique and confidence. I sort of had fun watching that guide boat from NC sitting there watching us catch fish after fish, and finally motored up above us and then drift the seam we were fishing. They got all the way to us and then sat there for a minute or two watching before pulling out and heading down river. I think that I saw them catch one or two fish. We were getting them on every cast nearly. I only saw one other fish landed by another boat. Thanks, Spur, for the Foley's. I might just give up crappie fishing and fish below dams for quite a spell now. I am addicted. Grin.

David, I don't quide. I just take people fishing every once in a while when I can. I have a lot of requests. Grin. Spurhunter may guide you on a trip, but I can't speak for him. emoBigsmile emoGeezer
