I chose this day of thanks to send this message to you all. We would like to thank you for your prayers for our son. They helped
make a Marine. You may remember that he left in August for bootcamp. Well, he graduated on November 2nd and is now
extremely proud to be a U.S. Marine. I can't begin to tell you what it was like to see him for the first time. I got the first hug and
it was wonderful!! We spent Family Day with him showing us around Parris Island all day, he graduated the next morning, and we
brought him home for a ten day leave. We were so thankful for our time with him. He is now in NC in Combat Training.

We also want to thank you all for the prayers for our family as a whole. We made it through the adjustments fine. We are
enjoying our time with our 16 year old son, and he has adjusted to Drew not being here. You can see the love and admiration that
he has for his big brother when they are together. Anyway, we are now learning to live as a military family. emoUSA

Again, thanks for remembering us. Take care, God bless, and happy fishing!!

I would like to introduce you all to PFC Drew Dameron, USMC.

Congrats to you and the family!  Just rememebr to tell him thanks for his service and his time! Prayers for a safe trip home. </p>

I bet he graduated with one of my prior students. He also graduated Nov. 2. He was one of my favorites. He also just went to North Carolina. I bet they know one another.

What is his name? We have tried to become familiar with the local guys that have been in training with Drew. There were several that went the same time he did.

Great looking Marine, in his, "Dress Greens", Drew graduated boot camp about the same time of the year that I did, except I graduated in 1961, After Boot camp, and like your son I went to Camp Geiger. It was called I.T.R. than (Infantry training regiment)
I think I was there only about three weeks. Of course it may have changed, about everything else has...... now I think it has this designation......

Camp Geiger, North Carolina, Marine Combat Training Battalion (MCT), Infantry Training Battalion (ITB), Advanced Infantry Training Company ...

Camp Geiger is not very far from Camp Lejeune, where I was stationed for two yrs...... ooRAH!!!!

Yes, he will be graduating from his three weeks at MCT on Dec. 4. He is supposed to leave there and head to Fort Leonardwood in Missouri on Dec. 5 for his MOS (MP training) for about 12 weeks (I think) and then be stationed somewhere. We have no clue about the holidays yet.

Yes, we have heard the name. We haven't actually met him, but his name came up in some stories as did most of the guys from this area. To sit and listen to their experiences was more fun and interesting than I could ever explain. I think PFC (?) Merritt may have ridden home from graduation with PFC Brown. Brown and Drew became friends during their Delayed Entry Program. I can't tell you how proud we are of all of these young men. They have certainly earned a place in our hearts as all of the military has, but these that have traveled the journey so far with Drew hold a special place. We always want to know how they are doing and what their needs are so that we might be able to help in some way.

I know you must be proud of your new MARINE. Be sure he knows how much our country appreciates his service and that many, many people pray for our servicemen on a regular basis. Thanks for sharing the info with us.

I too graduated Parris Isl. in Nov.1986. After that I went to Camp Geiger, NC for Infantry Training School. Tell him congrats for me and welcome to the family. SEMPER FIemoUSA
