Just wanted to thank you all for giving me great advice and help over the last couple weeks regarding my new boat purchase. I got everything up and running today except for the tilt/trim...however, I'm still proud I got that far. I finally broke down and dropped my baby (boat) off at the doctor (shop).emoBawl

Should be getting it back within a week though. He's thinking it may either be at worst the trim motor or at best a loose connection. Anyway, thanks for all the help! Hope to see everyone on the water and not in it! emoPoke

Well...just got a call from the shop. That was quick! Turns out to be a loose connection. He said he wouldn't have known it was there unless he had gone in there and wiggled things around. I'll be picking her up tomorrow!

Dont forget where you took it, some places would have took you for a ride. Would you pm me the name of the place?

Flip's right...they could have easily billed you for several hours of troubleshooting and you would have been none the wiser. Definitely a place to remember for any future needs.

That was a reputable shop you took your boat to (rare these days). You could've bought a tilt motor while all he did was fix the loose connection.

Congratulations!

Shucks!! PM my foot, Tell us all where you found an honest repairman. That can be a big plus for the honest repairman and many Forum members in need of service. I would like to see this guy join CFF and buy a Banner Ad.emoWorthy

Just fyi...There is no problem whatsoever with ever mentioning a positive business experience on CFF and associated business name/owner so long as its not for your, your sponsors, or a friends direct profit.

Well...in that case! I took my boat to Chattanooga Marine on Mack Smith Rd. in Rossville since it is only a half mile from my house. I ran up there around 12 noon yesterday and told him what was wrong and asked how long it would take (expecting at least a couple weeks). First off, Joey is the lone ranger there and couldn't be a nicer guy. He told me he could take a look today and for me to go get my boat! Took all my information down and told me he'd call Tuesday to give me an estimate and tell me how long it would take. INSTEAD, he called 4 hours later and said it was done. Furthermore, since he hadn't used quite an hour of labor, he changed my lower unit lube and didn't even charge me for it. I got my boat fixed and lubed for just an hour's labor charge...can't beat that...and in 4 hours! I couldn't be happier with Joey and Chattanooga Marine. I'll see ya'll on the water this weekend.

My son and I have dealt with Joey on several occassions and He has always been fair and helpful. He even stayed late one Friday night and waited on me to get there to pick up a part so I could fish that weekend. He's got some nice mounted smallmouths on the wall too!

he was a good guy to me. Took a little longer then I liked when he had my boat but to be fair it was in May. I will definately use him again I just hope I don't need help in the summer because he stays slammed!
