The 12lb smallmouth post????

The post on here last week that got a little out of hand and was removed had a picture and description of the bait that was used to catch those nice fish. Does anyone recall what that bait was called? With all the issues with the basstrixx bait right now that bait he posted looked very similar to it.

Thanks foodsaver. DD22 it was reweighed and was actually 9 lbs. Still very impressive.

Its a shame the post got out of hand and it had to be taken down. It was a beautiful fish and to me looked every bit as big as 12 lbs.

The post never got out of hand as far as member comments. I would edit out any derogatory content and leave a 12lb, 9lb, or any size smallmouth if I thought it was authentic. The post had a swim bait on it - I cannot recall the manufacturer.

It was pearl colored swim bait that was pictured but it wasn't basstrixx.

It was a Bassmagic swimbait by luck e strike. They come in 3 1/2, 4 1/2, and 5 1/2" sizes. I think the one that caught the smallie was 5 1/2". It looked like golden shad color, but I'm not sure. I had picked up some 3 1/2" at bps a few weeks ago and recognised it. I just can't be sure a 100% about the color.

If you all are trying locate the lure in direct response to that post then I probably need to clarify further....the huge smallmouth post was removed because its authenticity was brought into question. The last 2 trophy smallmouth with credible pictures posted on CFF were caught on shiners.

I don't know how much of the post was legit and how much wasn't. I would say that there is a good chance that 9lb smallies do exist in the upper end of Nickajack. It's hard to know what the truth is but I'm not going to plan to hold it against anyone. Whether the poster or the one who called the poster was at fault it really doesn't matter to me. I would expect that some of the info that we see is not as accurate as others. My plan is to be as accurate and up front with my posts as possible and expect everyone else to do the same. I sure would like to catch a 12lb smallie though!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

O.K., here is the update to the update. I just got word that NRG is all upset because his so called friend pulled that on him and now he looks like he was being dishonest.emoRolleyes He said he was not going to have anything to do with the guy anymore and he himself was a victem of the scam. For any of you that do not know NRG he would be the type of fellow that would believe that story.emoBigsmile The guy went as far as telling him he was not in the picture becuase he was taking it of himself holding it and he was at a weird angle. NRG believed that too.emoDoh I put the word out that he needed to get back on here and we would try to be gentle with him.....emoEvil ...NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!emoLaugh I am sorry...I just can't help myself. The bass did not even come from the chick at all and the whole thing was some guy having some fun with NRG. I hope NRG does get back on here, try to go easy on him....emoRedface Jmax

I figured it was something along those lines. Yeah I can see NRG getting all excited about it and never thinking about putting the post up. I think we can forgive one hoax anyway.

Everybody has had their chain yanked before, this guy just pulled his really hard. I think it should have just been moved to the Off Topic section so we could all get a good laugh out of the thing. I aint upset about it, and I doubt anyone else is either!
