I have to move to Alabama now..............
First trip to the big G for me and my partner and I am very happy with the results. We put in @mud creek at around 9am and fished till after 5pm never leaving the creek.Fished traps on the flats and points in 4-6 feet of water and caught 10 total between us the best 5 being around 12-14lb(I only put the big one on the scale,it was over 4)naturally as on any trip the biggest one got off at the boat,I didn't see it but my buddy did and said 6-7lbs.I'll take his word for it because it was fighting harder than all of the rest that I caught all day.Water temp was between 52 in the morning to 55 by the time we left.

Great looking fish there rm! When you fish you 'traps do you use a bottom bouncing retrieve, a straight retrieve, or what cadence do you tend to do best with. Do you like the 1/4 1/2 or 1oz size. Do you mix it up any? Just curious.

Glad you guys enjoyed yourselves, ranman. I tried in vain to flag you down and take me with you yesterday AM on the interstate, but you Bullet guys are snobs. emoRolleyes

Congrats again on the great first trip!

1/4 and 1/2.We would throw out into 2-3ft of water and "burn" them back out untill you hit some grass and when that happened you would rip it out and that's when the bite would happen.During the slow part of the day(12-3) we fished a little deeper and started using a "yo-yo" retrieve. When we caught a fish there was almost a 100 percent chance that we would get at least one more bite within the next few casts. They seemed to be moving around in little wolf packs of three or four.

Yeah,I felt bad about leaving you behind yesterday Rob but somebody has to work!emoEvil We can't all take off and go fishing on a Monday morning!
When we got to the ramp,it was completely full so I wasn't the only slacker out there!

From looking at your pics you experienced something I never have on G, no wind! I've been down there a dozen times and every time the wind is just howling. Glad yall had a great day!

Thanks for that great info rm! I tend to stop and start my bait all the time with a trap but we just don't have the grass up here on the Chick with the water fluctuations but if we did I'd try just as you said to do it.

Oh it got pretty windy. The first pic when I don't have a sweatshirt on was right after we got there,we caught several for the first couple of hours and the slight breeze kinda died as well as the bite.So I said to my partner "boy I wish that breeze would come back so they would turn on again".You know the old saying be carefull what you wish for, well it came back alright liked to blew us all over the place till late into the afternoon!
