Hard to believe I am turning sixty this Friday! Where did it go? I remember when I thought sixty was old, old, old. I guess a good thing around here in Hot Springs Village is my wife and I are considered young. emoAngel The average age here in the Village is 69. emoRolleyes I still remember the reality lady telling me the Village was trying hard to attract young people like you and your wife. emoBigsmile I will tell you that you need to appreciate every moment and savor the things that are funny, good or just that brings you a smile. Your right now living your "Good'ol days".

Life is short. May not seem it now but the older you get the shorter it seems to become. Appreciate your spouse, tell a family member you love them, give someone a smile, thank the cashier waiting on you that you appreciate them, give an extra buck tip to your waiter, just being nice when it is unexpected can make someone's day. Slow down and smell the coffee. I think of EricM as I type this. He had learned that. emoThumbsup He laughed at himself and made us laugh in the process. Sometimes you don't realize just how small some things are that you get mad and upset about until it is too late or something really bad happens to put it into perspective.

Wishing you all a great day and tight lines to you all. emoToast Jmax

P.S., Don't forget this Sunday, 5/13, is Mother's Day! ;)

Happy Birthday Pal! I turned 40 a couple of weeks ago, my daughter said,"...Daddy, you already had some grey hair in your beard..." I told her, "Naw, Thats chrome!"

Hey Jmax look at the bright side...retired before 60...and now you can take IRA funds without a penalty for that new boat...

You could not have said it any better. emoAngel My wife and I are so blessed. I had a father that started in the military with the cloths on his back and worked his way up in the ranks. Retired military Navy Commander. He believed in saving and passed that on to me. He taught me the value of being cheaper, making something last a little longer, not letting your emotions carry you away into buying something you could do without, the value of a dollar, compounding interest, investments and the list goes on and on. If I could leave anyone with a piece of wisdom it would be to start saving/investing early. Even if it is just a couple bucks, over time it will build up. Then the trick is to not spend it or convince yourself you need to get into it for one reason or another. Best thing to do is invest it and then forget you even have it. emoGeezer

One thing I use to tell my people who worked for me was when you get a raise, ask yourself, "Are you making it on what you were making before your raise?" If your answer is yes then take that raise and invest it. If your company offers any kind of 401k or investment program take advantage of it and use it. Most of the time it is not taxed until you withdraw it so you save on your taxes and have more to invest. emoToast Jmax
