Well everyone, I'm back to working on the boat AGAIN! Apparently I had water get into the lower cylinder through a gasket failure of the powerhead to the exhaust adapter gasket. Had take n it over the the out board doc for some tweaking and he said can't do because of compression. Will say the outboard doc is very honest and won't charge ou for something he didn't do, will be going back to him for any repairs that I can't fix. Well I've torn my engine down completly and have taken it to have it bored out. For the history sake I had bought the powerhead off the net from a supplier of rebuilt heads under the assumption of a 15 month warranty. Called them up said compression is down. They said you can pay 300 dollars to send back and let us repair and I was like you didn't check the ring gap. Well to make a long story short told them to shove the warranty becuase they said if it found out to be my fault at all, then I would pay to get it fixed or get it back in bolts so I told them to shove it. Oh well so much for warranty. Took over to Nichols Outboard http://www.nicholsoutboard.com/ and they said they would try and get it bored out. Well the idiots that had " rebilt it had just bored it out to the max .40 over and now I have no where to go. Nichols now has it and is going to resleeve it and put me a "good" quality piston in. To me I feel like they are doing a great job @ a good prive and were very honest. They tried to fix it and tried to hone it out but it couldn't be done. This post is just something I had to tell because DO NOT BUY REBUILT POWERHEADS OVER THE INTERET!!! and as far as getting machine work and getting things fixed I feel that nicholsoutboard has treated me well because they are reputable and a well run business that others may look into using for the do it yourselfers.
