I have been under the weather for a week and a half. Got a touch of pnumonia and could not seem to get rid of it. After two trips to the doc, xrays of the chest, blood work, four persciptions, a shot where the sun don't shine, and an inhaler I finally felt good enough to go out today. It was so pretty on the water and nice and calm. No wind, no rain, no waves, but very little fish.

Got on the water about 8:30 and started jigging a spoon first off. Hooked a bunch of yellow bass and several nice drum up to ten pounds but not a single LM or spot. Decided to try my luck with a finesse worm and could not keep them on. They were hitting very light and it would just be mushie and it was hard to tell anything was on there. I finally had a good one on a rock bank right on the river and got it all the way into the boat but when I went to swing her in it fell off, hit the side of the boat and flopped back into the water. It was a good 2 and a half to three lber. I then moved to a bluff right on the river and found some nice spots. Boated a couple nice ones but nothing big. Lastly went to a ledge I like to fish and boated another spot there along with the nicest one of the day, a LM about 2.5 lbs. Nothing to write home about but a nice day on the water and I got to stretch my line some. The color worm I was using was watermelon green with blue and red flake. A four inch zoom worm on a small jig head.emoCool Jmax

Glad to hear you are feeling better. emoSmile Boy did you miss some beautiful days but glad you made on the water before winter returns

It is awful to be ill. But a good day on the water must be what the doctor ordered. Right Polo?

Congrats on the few fish that you did catch. See you on the water sometime, Jmax.emoGeezer

Also glad your feeling better even if you don't look any better!emoTongue emoUpsmile From what I've heard around the lake, you killed them compared to the average as of late. Good job Jmax. But I expect it from you as good a fisherman as you are.emoGeezer

I just told Mike the other day that it was odd that you weren't posting. Glad to hear you are feeling better. I've had something off an on for the last 3 weeks so. Sounds like you had a decent trip out today. Glad to hear your report.

I knew CFF had seemed especially quiet. Couldn't really put my finger on the reason why. Now I know.
Jmax has been emoVomit
Glad you're back. emoThumbsup

Glad you had a day out Jmax. This sick stuff is getting around pretty good for everyone I think. Hope you get to feelin better and more time on the water.

Thanks for the kind words there guys and gals.emoAngel It makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside to be missed.;) I have got to admit I am tempted to go out again today. This time of year if I get just a few in the boat I feel like it was a good trip. I struggle catching quality bass in the winter. I usually catch some but they run small. I will say and testify that the CFF has helped me improve my winter catching. To give credit to the exact guys it was CCSM and RR that has really got me fishing a jig head with a finesse worm more than ever before. I had tried it before but after being spanked a couple of times by those two guys in "MY" own boat I use it a lot more now. It is hard to beat a small worm on a jig head when the bite is very slow. I look for rock on the northern bank where the sun hits and warms the water up a little more. Also a slight current helps. It is slow fishing and yesterday all my fish came from more then 13 feet. I use 12 lb test or less so it gets down fairly easy. I usually rig it weedless so to try and keep it from hanging on the rocks and any wood that may be there. I can almost assure you that if the bite is very slow and you can't get one in the boat any other way this way here will work when nothing else will. Give it a try sometimes and see you on the water.emoThumbsup Jmax

I had the same thing about a month ago. It is one of those colds that if you don't take care of it, you get worse. Glad you are getting better, just take it easy untill you are over it.

WB JMax ... I know what you mean about feeling icky .. I've been wrestling with it for 4 days. Headache, stomach upset ...

But I'm proud to say so far I have not broken my not calling off work for 5 years! :) I did leave 2 1/2 hours early on Monday but that don't count against my no call in record.

Sounds like a decent day to go out and clear your head. My boss gave me a $50 Gift Certificate from Sportsman's Warehouse ... so hopefully once I purchase a new fishing something I'll be able to do one of those days on the lake too.

TT
