Tough night tonight on the water, RRigsby and I went out to our hot spots, well its tought to call them that any more. I think the night spinner bait bite has gone since my last trip out almost a month ago. Ryan caught one keeper just before dark on a chatter bait, after that we didnt get another bite. We found plenty of bait jumping back in some coves (shallow water) but nothing would hit. Time to change it up again. I got skunked, there I said it.

Thanks for the report hooker771. I appreciate it when anglers post even if they have a bad day on the water....sometimes sharing patterns that are not working can be as useful as the ones that are productive. I know hearing that the bite might be slow below Nickajack has sure saved me some gas money in past trips where I stayed close to home...This info combined with other posts may help anglers put together a better strategy for the this time of year when conditions can be tough. emoThumbsup

I repent for not posting Tuesday, Dhaun. I just got my boat out of the shop and went out Tuesday for about 2 hours to run the motor for a while and fish a little. I crappie fished less than 1 hour on a river bluff and caught 3 very large crappie. 2 came on a tube yellow/chartreuse under a float fished about 6.5 feet deep. The other came tight lining a 1" pumpkinseed curly tail grub about 15 feet deep. Also caught 2 bluegills and 1 large golden shiner and had 1 other crappie pull off about half way to the boat. Didn't think much of the trip so I didn't post. I suppose that you are right and that we should post even though we don't always get the expected results. I'll try to do better in the future. emoGeezer

Wow, night fishing in the winter. Just not something that I think about doing much but with the warm weather I guess that the fish could be active then. It sounds like it wasn't the trick on your trip. It's good to know that the water temp is still in a reasonable range and that there are active baitfish shallow. What will you do differently to get them on the end of your line?

Polo, are you aware that you have been supplanted as the #1 poster on CFF? From the look of things, Fat Albert is trying to overcome the big lead that you and TT have on all the rest of us. If FA doesn't get off the computer and get busy, he ain't never gonna get any rods built for all you guys. No wonder he doesn't have any time. You know that we love you FA, but how about doing something productive. I'm gonna call Jane and see if she has any honey dos that you are leaving undone. No, forget that. You might call Wanda and get me busy. Let's just call a truce. emoBigsmile emoGeezer

DK, I know that my time is limited at the top. My Holiday season production is way down and TT and FA are relentless. This time of year is just incredibly busy and I just haven't been getting on the water or the internet because I have had so much else going on. That's just the way it goes.
