ATLANTA (AP) - Georgia corrections officials say four prisons, including Hays State Prison near Trion in Chattooga County have been locked down for security reasons.

Activists say inmates at 11 prisons across the state have been on a peaceful strike seeking better work and living conditions.

The NAACP is urging the federal Bureau of Prisons to investigate the treatment of prisoners during the strike.

Georgia NAACP chairman Edward DuBose says prisoners refused to leave their cells and perform their jobs.

Corrections spokeswoman Kristen Stancil said there have been no major incidents at the four facilities that were locked down.

She says they will remain that way until an internal investigation and a security review are completed.

Here's my idea====BARTER=====
Have all prisons grow whatever will grow in their region using the inmates to farm.
Swap with other prisons when the crops are harvested BY THE INMATES
That would cut food cost immensely
No work no food======
They would learn to work for what they eat and when your belly gets hungry enuff you will work......

Exactly what I was thinking only my thoughts are much easier and produce results faster. If they won't come out of their cells to work STOP FEEDING THEM.

Take their recreation time and tvs away from them. That'll show em. emoBang

For $.50 a piece you can shoot them and maybe someone wanting to do the same crimes may think "do I really want to take that risk?? The miilions of dollars saved across the country should help a lot of senior citizens and sick people. I'd much rather give my money to a War Vet than these people...Just my unpopular .02 worth....Jim

Like ignore the constitution? Do away with the Bill of Rights?

When a person is CONVICTED of a felony they forfeit most of thir rights. If they don't like the conditions in prison they should have thought about that BEFORE they commited the crime.
That is exactly why we have so much crime in this country. The bleeding hearts have changed punishment into a mere inconvenience.
Bout like putting a kid in timeout instead of whoopin their ass.

Punishment should fit the crime, because dead men tell no tells. Just saying.

I agree with punishment should fit the crime. So if the crime is murder, hang 'em!! If they admit or are caught red handed (not just someone saying its so necessarily) of rape or child molestation, hang 'em. Those that steal from people, don't necessarily kill them, just put them on a chain gang until they wished they were dead. There are a lot of old folks in this country that could use wood cut, lawns mowed and weedeated. If that's not available, a sledgehammer in an old rock quarry will do. They'll think about it next time before they commit the crime. If they try to run while doing the work, shoot them - don't bother with a taser. Only problem with this is that if we as a nation supported this, JMAX would never sell another burgular alarm!!! See ya on the water....Jim

For people that don't seam to put much trust in the government, you seam very willing to give them the ability to take away your rights.

I really don't have a problem with our government. We have won the embryo lottery and were lucky enough to be born in the greatest country in the world in my opinion. I just think that people who don't appreciate that and go do bad things to others should suffer and I don't mean be punished. I don't think they are worth the rope or the bullet it would take to get rid of them - much less our tax dollars. Give that money to our vets and old people.....Jim
