Saturday, I hooked up the batteries on the boat and commenced to doing some yard work and planned on hitting the lake Sunday to see if I could get some fish stink on my hands emoTongue . I trimmed up some bushes, cut some border grass, raked things up... then looked at the corner of my yard emoIdea ... a stand of about 10 closely grouped yucca plants that needed some severe work. Haven't done anything with these monsters in a couple of years and the old dead spears were looking kind of bad. I figured.. heck, it's 2:00 ... I've got time to just cut these things down... done this before with a chainsaw... what a mess... yucca's are extremely wet, and fibrous, making it hard to use a chainsaw on them... it took me a while to clean the saw up after that fiasco... you can't kill these things no matter how hard you try, they always spring back up (which is ok.. they don't look that bad when they're young) ... I decided to cut some spears to get to the trunk and cut it with a saw or ax... well, that's when it started emoDoh ... that @^$$#% thing attacked me! ... spears were sticking me in places I didn't want stuck I'd get dinged by stickers I never saw emoBang ... cut up, bleeding and getting angry emoHoppingmad .. tried to use some long handled pruning shears, hand held pruners, saws, axes, maul .. and those danged things kept on whippin my arse emoEek emoMad emoHoppingmad .. after about 1.5 hours of fighting these pointed headed prickly pets of satin and hardly putting a dent into the trunk of just 1 of these creatures ... I wiped the blood off my hands and arms... took a big swig of water... and decided my next move. My next weapon of choice against these bushes from haites... a Dodge Ram Bighorn, Class IV hitch and 2 in. web strapping emoEvil emoBigsmile .. one by one, I yanked them #%$^$ out of the ground emoEnforce and hauled them off... That was a heck of a bloody fight.. but, I survived.... but, Sunday morning... my old body reminded me of the previous day's adventure... I'm hurting in places I didn't know I had emoScratch emoRolleyes ... needless to say... I didn't get out on the lake today... been nursing my wounds. I'm not as young as I used to be... next time, will be different...lol
