I HAD SEEN THIS DEER ONCE IN 2005, NEVER IN 2006 AND ONLY ONE TIME THIS YEAR AND NAMED HIM THE GHOST BUCK, THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN 3 MONTHS LATER I GOT THE A SECOND CHANCE TO TAKE HIM, IT WAS JUST BREAKING DAYLIGHT AS A NIGHT OF LIGHT RAIN WAS ENDING, I HAD JUST SETTLED IN ABOUT 40FT UP, GOT MY SAFETY BELT HOOKED UP, AND AS I WAS SETTING DOWN I SAW A DOE COME TO A SLIDING STOP AND TURN AND LOOK BEHIND HER, IT WAS THE GHOST BUCK RIGHT ON HER TALE, THIS TIME MY AIM WAS SURE AND THE GHOST BUCK WAS ON THE GROUND, MY SECOUND LARGEST DEER EVER ,TAKING AT 7:40 A.M. ON 12/30/07 PRIVATE LAND IN HAMILTON COUNTY.

WORKING ON HOW TO GET PIC SMALL ENOUGH TO SEND ,WILL POST IT WHEN FIGURE THIS OUT!

Funny thing today, while fishing south of Nick Dam, Coach and I looked up to see a doe swimming to an island. Figured she got chased out there. Or do they swim in this weather for any purpose other than flight from fear?

your right , the island could be an escape route, one other possibility, not much food this year, she could have been looking for some better feeding grounds. most bucks will swim after their doe if she is hot, the down fall of many a buck and many a men.

THANKS GUYS, REALLY SEEN SOME GREAT BUCKS THIS YEAR ON THE HUNTING FORUMS, ITS TURKEY TIME !!!

Some deer swim the river like you and I would run to the corner market and back. I used to see them in the river all the time around Mullins Cove.
