As many of you know, I ordered myself a Minn-Kota Maxxum 70 for Christmas. I placed the order on Dec. 17th at onlinemarine.com. They are listed #1 when you search for Marine stuff. I got an e-mail comfirmation and $675 was taken from my checking account the next day.

I paid for next day delivery and it still has not shown up! Numerous phone calls get nothing but a busy signal.

Yesterday I talked to the Police in Oriental, NC ( suburb of New Bern). He went by the office to check. The lights were on, but nobody was at home!

I will give it a little more time and a few more phone calls. Has anyone else had to deal with this type situation? I have a bad feeling that my money is gone up in smoke!!

That's just wrong! emoSorry I'm curious... I see they have "Online Order Tracking." What does it tell you when you try to "track" your order.

You are probably right about your money. I had the same thing happen to me with a watch I bought online several years ago. Never did get my cash back. I now use American Express for online purchase, or Paypal with the satisfaction quarantee. American Express with credit it right back to you if you don't get your stuff, and Paypal takes about 30 days or so but you normally do get it back. Sorry Alan! Wish it had turned out better.

It's supposed to be DHL but when you click on order tracking it comes up UPS and they have no record of the shipment. I did not get a tracking number, only an order number.

MB, I hate to hear about your plight, no one needs to be taken to the cleaners but as they say $@it happens. I have had good luck over the years by using a credit card for online purchases, if you don't receive your items ordered, the card company will get your money back, banks can't do this or won't. It is also good to use paypal if the merchant will accept it, they will get your money back also. You might try getting in touch with the BBB of their state, they may be able to do something.

Paypal sucks!!! it does NOT protect you from an item being not as described. if you receive an item paypal will NOT refund your money!!! Always always always fund your transactions on paypal with a credit card!!! That way if they decide not to honor a claim you still have the recourse of filing a claim against paypal with your credit card company. I have done a bunch of buying and selling online and these days it seems like its buyer beware. Please listen to my advice about using a credit card for all online transactions as paypal will screw you just as fast as any unscrupulous seller.

MOST ALL banks will get your money back. Walk in. Tell them the issue. Tell them to take care of THEIR customer. And yes, Visa and others will allow you to be reimbursed for fraudulent deals. They may be on vacation. And for what it's worth. Oriental is one of the most amazing towns in America. I would hate to see some creep pulling that trick there.

Thats sucks to hear about your problems Madbomber but NA is right. Most banks will get your money back to you. I work at a bank and I deal with this online fraud stuff quite a bit. We will have our customers fill out an avidavit of fraud form and you will get your money back. I would just check with your bank to verify the length of time since purchase you have to file the claim.
