The pressure has been on me from several family members and friends to get some more Blue Cat Fillets and have another one of my highly desired fish-fries.
I fished the nuke plant on Wednesday for the eating sized Blues. I found large numbers of Catfish stacked in certain areas. However they were not spread all over as in the warmer months. I estimate that I boated approximately Thirty cats, mostly Blues and several Channels. Most fish were in the 2 - 3lb range with Five being in the 4 - 10lb range that I brought home. I released Two that were too large.
Just like always the little Zebco 33 got all the big cats and most of all fish. I do not know what it is with that little outfit but it sure does catch the cats. The last fish I caught was a Twenty-one pound Blue Cat, caught on the Zebco. Catching those big fish on that light tackle is a blast. It did take a while to get to the surface. But isn't the fight what it is mostly about?
The bait used was Gwantley red weiners, Canadian night crawlers and cut Skipjack. I caught a couple on Skipjack, Most all the 2 - 3lbers on worms but all the keepers on the 1" lengths of the cheap weiners.

First pic is a nice Channel that weighed about 14lbs
The second pic is the last Blue Cat of the day, 21lbs
The last pic is of two of the Five Blues I brought home to feed the masses.
