Well I've been asking my pardner to lets go fishing for a fresh mess of crappie for Grandmommy's dinner table, but I swear since That DANG MARVIN has got on this Rockfish Fishing craze he has been as fiesty as a red fox raiding an openchicken coop trying to catch those bigStripers on every trip(twice a day for him lately). And dang it if he hasn't found three different places close to the ramp that these bruisers are cruising regularlyin search of a meal...and we been givin'em something to munch on...wobbly spoons and a homemade swimblade that I am using! Together we have caught 9 Rockfish in the last three days with only two that pulled off on that initial freight train run. I'm kinda new at all this monster bash thing and my personal bestso far was today with a 14lb8ozRockfish ,although I did have one take off today that I never got turned around...felt like I had him hooked in the tail or something, I was just glad to not lose my rod and reel to that thing as it was all I could do to 'hold on to my hat'! Marvin's best fish was weighed at a tad over 23lb and a 17 and 18 mixed in between all the hollerin and excitement, sorry if we offend any other fisherman today as there were several checking us out to see what was the matter till they realized it was just a couple of wild jokers having a ton of fun. Oh yea, meant to mention that I have installed a new HDS-7 Touchscreen, SI-DI and got it tuned in to show 3Dimages of structure and fish/baitfish. It works too...cause when I saw fish and measured the cast to them I caught em! Shows different details for different species(too cool!)and paid off today with a mixed bag of a dozen white crappie and another nine white bass for tablefare, caught a 14" white crappie on a jigging spoon after actually seeing a school of em stacked on a submerged culvert....I may be on to something here with my new electronics...thanks alot to Catfish1 for sharing his knowledge of Lowrance/Navionics.emoThanks

Loved the report and the pics were fine. It's about time for those stripers to begin to cruise all these bays with dinner time on their minds. I"m looking forward to hooking several of them myself. Thanks for all the info. emoBigsmile emoGeezer

Good job Maddog...great looking group of fish... after yday's bass attempts I think I'm ready to start chasing some of those frieght train stripes.. Yesterday my frog came flying by ear a whole lot more times than I had hook-ups...also you've got me thinking it's about time to break down & join modern technology w a side scan unit..!!

I would recommend to go ahead and bite the bullet on a 3D imaging unit...its alot of bang for your buck! Takes fishing to the next level, at least it did for an ole country boy like me.emoThumbsup

...way to whack em...always enjoy the good ol'country boy twist to your reports...them there magic machines are sum ting else...you'll have a ball with it...

Always Always enjoy the post and pics, even if you would pick Archie over me.....That just challenges me that much more! emoBigsmile

Candi Cane,,,I'm glad that comment fired you up, I know that Kingfish is the Captain in that boat and Grayson serves as first mate but I can see a twinkle in Archie's eye that says "been there and done that"! Kinda like picking out a beagle pup out of the litter...you just know that dog will hunt!emoBigsmile emoBigsmile

I could never give up my pardner Marvin , even though we may look as different as salt from pepper...when it comes to catchin'em fishes we go together like country gravy and buttermilk bisquits!emoToast

Its good to hear from you , Norman, was beginning to wonder about you being out there on the lake, I truly did think of you when we were catching those Rockfish....best regards to you and NM and FL.

I was fly fishing next to Marv the other afternoon. More White Bass then you could imagine. They are fun on a 5 wt. Also caught a 20" Largemouth. Lots on fun on the fly!

He called me when he got home and said a guy in a big, long center console boat was out there with him just wearing those whites out on topwater...guess that was you, glad you found the honey hole that day, sometimes they move around in that area...just watch for us and we'll put you on another bunch of schooling fish!emoDance

Watch out for those BigRockfish, dont think your fly rod would have enough line on the spool to keep up with one of those Brutes!(lol)emoAngler

That was me, we fished 50 yards apart and were both tearing them up. Been back the last two night, yea they are moving around. Any info would be greatly appreciated. I've got a light blue 22' bay boat with a Merc on it. Stop over if you see me.

The best secret to finding the whites on a daily basis is to pay attention to the weather conditions(clouds moving, prevailing wind, current flow) and locating where the baitfish are that evening, the whites cant feed without the minnows balling up for safety in numbers...sometimes we pull of few tricksof our own to help that process take place. Dont be offended if I run in and circle you from a safe distanceat half throttle, I'm stirring em up and you'll be in the best seat at the theater to watch the show that follows.emoToast

Wednesday night it was real cloudy and a light rain. Monday and Tuesday were on fire but Wednesday was bad, got 6 fish in 3 hours. There was nothing in the spot where Marv saw me fishing and that place was insane for two straight nights. Last night I found the bait and the last 30 minutes of daylight was killer. Marv I think called it the "grand fanale". It sure was last night. Fishing busting everywhere, hard to pick where to cast. Funny thought, I found an acre of bait popping on the surface around 4:00 pm and there were no fish on them. I couldn't figure that one out. I moved here from ATL. I fish top-water for Striper in late Oct to early Nov. We get about 3 weeks of great fishing. How long can you find top-water White Bass here? Is it going to end soon? Here is a picture of a typical sized I've been getting. $&%&%&%&%&--- OK I can't figure out how to attach, I'll post on a new thread.
