I'll probably get burned at the stake for this but the real problem with America is that it is full of Americans. As a country we have decided that we don't want to find out any information for ourselves. The first thing that hits the airwaves is the truth......if it is printed somewhere (especially the web), it is the truth. Americans have gotten to the point that we feel we are owed something for just being American. There is an overwhelming lack of accountability. We love to blame everyone and everything else when we are at fault. Ex: New Orleans and Katrina, instead of just walking out, thousands of people waited to be rescued, wth, you have two legs, walk. No no, let's blame the gov't for not rescuing us faster, because we shouldn't have to walk anywhere, even if we live in a dang bowl. We decide that we can rack up tons of debt and buy houses that we really can't afford, why not, everyone else is doing it and when the bottom falls out the government should be there to rescue us because we were taken advantage of by some lender. No one held a gun to your head to finance a home with a stupid rate that would increase to way more than you even earn. I think that you should not be able to have children if you can't financially support them and if your IQ is less than your shoe size. And if you do have kids and can't afford them or are a lifetime welfare recipient, you can't have more kids and get more money. Get the hell off of welfare and get a job....instead of standing at the traffic light by Walmart begging for money, go inside and fill out an application. Don't expect me to pay for your mistakes because I decided not to take a stupid risk. Bad choices should have bad consequences. We have let a lot of people slide on things that they shouldn't have. Americans feel that they can go get drunk and drive home, hell, they might only get a suspended license and have to pick up some trash, but the weather is nice out. Why not take, not impound, I mean confiscate the vehicle they are driving, give a $10,000 fine and a minimum of 1 year in jail, first offense. I think that you should have to pass some sort of intelligence test to be able to vote. Just because you are 18 doesn't mean you know shite from shinola. Heck, the last election proved that. When you can interview people on the street and 1/2 of them can't even identify the candidates by a photograph or have no clue what they stand for, well, you get my point. This one really pees me off. Someone can weigh 500lbs, smoke 4 packs of cigs a day and drink liquified crisco. Sure, he'll have diabetes, COPD, and about 1,000 other disabilities, but you know what, the insurance companies will have to pay his claims and he won't be forced to stop any of the things causing his problems. He won't even have to lose weight, wth. Wow, that turned into sort of a rant. But this country really needs to pull up its pants, quit worrying about offending someone, and get its act together and move on. Of course I could go on and on, but....

Davo's soap box is kind of tall! I agree 100% though.

Alot of my sentiments exactly! Alot of what you said are great reasons why I think this site should have this particular section. America has gotten to where it is so worried about being PC, that people can't say what they feel. EVERYONE wants to feel accepted in SOME way, so it's easier sometimes to not speak up about things we disagree with, especially to friends. What makes this site special is that everyone here is connected by a common thread FISHING. We may not all know each other in person. But it is nice to know what other people think about the IMPORTANT things in life - RELIGION & POLITICS. The more people are made to feel scared of sharing their beliefs, the more vulnerable we are to having the wool pulled over our head.

Keep this forum, keep it clean, civil, and respectful of others. We may all learn something that we didn't know before.

thats right jtablada and Davo I personally know of some that can tell you what state offers how much per child for cash help and foodstamps and can tell people were and how to do it, and Thay have withheld the name of the childs fathers !!!HHHMMMMM. Sad but True. I think that if you are old enough to make babies your old enough to be responsible for them. **content deleted** You need to know what you stand for, or you will fall for anything

The welfare and foodstamps thing is pretty bad, but I work litterally right beside the Emma Wheeler homes at Heatec Inc. on Wilson Road. You guys should notice that NONE of the housing units have water, electic or any other utility meter on them. On the other hand, you should see some of the nice high dollar vehicles parked in front of some of these supposedly poverished places, and all the jewelry hanging around their necks. Sometimes I wonder why I work instead of moving in there!

All great points and I would like to add one or too myself, 1. What is the crime in praying in school like we all did back when we were kids? My goodness they cannot say the pledge of allegence!!!!! 2. Why cant a parent whip/whop/stripe their legs with a switch/pop their fannies for a lack of better words geez what is this world comming to? I would say most of us all have had all of these great things in our life and I would go out on a limb and say that with all of that discipline from our parents and grandparents we all turned out pretty good. It is just the ones that lack great parenting and some sort of religion in their life that has turned them the way they are or it might even be that they take advantage of society and blame it all on the other guy instead of taking responsabilty upon theirselves. I better quit before I say something I shouldnt but thats all I'm going to say about that!!!!!!!!! Bravo Davo for getting me started I needed a lift today!!!

Its is obvious you have not lived through a hurricane. Remnants hitting our area do not count. Alot of people do not leave. Would you leave knowing when you come back your stuff gets stolen.. noone knew the levy was going to break in Katrina. As far as health of individuals, lets skip the so called Grannys got to die panel and go straight to Lets play God and decide who lives or who dies. Only the perfect healthy shall live. I am sure everyone has some health issues. I bet only 10 percent survive. Their will be plenty of fishing spots for them.
