My motor is skrewed....We tore it down to the crank, and one of the rod bearings was tore up. Just so happens, someone has had this motor apart before and replaced the rod bearings....one that was tore up was a plastic housed bearing....all the rest were metal housed bearings. I am not buying a used boat or motor ever again.emoBang emoVomit emoRain emoBawl

Sounds really aggrivating. I'm a lucky one - especially because my motor is a '79 and hasn't dissapointed us yet.

But I have a weird feeling that mine's going to mess up on us really soon.

Man I just hate that JTF. I am with you on the used boat. I said the same thing you are saying more than 20 years ago. I make payments and quite often I have to work extra to pay for it but it's ready when I get the chance to go and I know what is in the motor. There are a few fortunate ones that buy used motors and boats that don't have any trouble. There are also many that get ripped a new one on the used motors and boats too.

Nice boat JTF but let me let you in on a little item. Get it carpeted or Rhino lined. That boat is a lot like mine. Painted aluminum and it gets hot. I mean can't touch it hot and in the summer it is like being in a frying pan. I have had to quit fishing because mine got so hot. Granted the white will be much better than the brown that is on my G3 but metal needs something on it no matter what. Also the carpeting will deaden a ton of sound. If I bought a new aluminum today it would have the vinyl carpeting no question.

Thanks Cheez.....I think it has a "liner" sprayed in it from the factory, but if it doesn't, it will shortly after I get it.
